What Causes Excessive Menstruation And Painful Cramps?
I am 47 years old have been having irregular periods for a while now. This time I started my period eight days ago. I have been going through a super size tampon in about 2 hours since I started no signs of slowing. Usually have painful cramping, but this time now cramping. Should I be worried.
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Heavy irregular bleeding at 47 years of age can be due to dysfunctional uterine bleeding which is a disorder of the uterine lining( endometrium) occurring because of hormonal disturbances. If the bleeding is excessive, then you should consult an OBGYN specialist as soon as possible so that you can be given appropriate medications to control bleeding, and if they fail to do so you may require dilatation and curettage to control bleeding and making the diagnosis by the histopathological examination of the tissue.
