What Causes Excessive Mucus In The Throat While Suffering From An Ear Infection?
I have blocked ears from infection currently being treated by antibiotics from my doctor. The pain has been similar to swimmers ear infection. One ear has improved the other still painful. 2 days of antibiotics so far. I have noticed today that there is constant gunk in the back of my throats which wasn t there prior to treatment. Is this a normal process?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood your concerns. This is certainly not a normal process. You have developed swimmer's ears meaning fungal infection which need anti-fungal drops in addition to continuation of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medication with painkiller properties. Stop swimming till you are cleared of the problem. The postnasal drip causes the gunk in the back part of throat. Instill nasal drops and take steam inhalations to get rid of this. AN opinion of an ENT will be the best to get the exact diagnosis and have proper management of the problems that you have mentioned.
