What Causes Excessive Night Sweats With Foul Smelling Odor?
I went to my dermatologist for excessive night sweats with a foul smell, they drench the sheets and I have to change pajamas at least once per night. My dermatologist tested my thyroid and checked for TB but they both were fine. I m still awaiting results of my 24 hour urine collection but if that s negative what else should he check for?
Normal perspiration is usually odorless, but when the sweat mixes with the bacteria present on the skin, it gives a foul smell. Hence, good personal hygiene is of utmost importance. The body should be washed properly while bathing, particularly the areas which are more prone to excessive sweating.
Excessive sweating with foul smelling may be due to many other conditions and these are to be looked for in such patients. Diabetic ketosis which is due to a spike in blood sugar, diseases of the liver and digestive upsets are some of the conditions in which such symptoms are seen. The patient should be investigated for these symptoms and treated accordingly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
