Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Excessive Penile Discharge Post Pelvic Injury?
I was in a car accident where i was tboned in driver side door. Took place mid october of this year. I had an nondisplaced fracture of left inferior pubic ramus and a second fracture involving anterior rim of left acetabulum. My report said there is trace free fluid in posterior pelvis. Since the accident i have had a lot of discharge, clear, but enough to have to change my underwear. Sometimes even my pants. I am seeing my PCP next week. I am 34, no kids. Is this normal after an auto accident of its caliber? Wanting a Dr opinion before I see my PCP because I am very concerned.
This is unusual. Even with a lot of sexual stimulation it isn't common. The question is first, what discharge is it? an STD can certainly do that and about 1/4 of the time without pain/discomfort. It can be easily tested for.
Then, the area being hyperstimulated due to a nerve trauma is potentially possible, i guess, but I've never actually heard of this occurring. Mostly there is either loss of sexual function or no problems at all from nerve injury around the penis.
And in any case, one would expect other effects if the nerves were involved. If there were a trauma to testes or the urethral outflow tract there might be inflammation or some other source of some other fluid (urinary leakage is quite common in women, not in men).
A urologist can easily tell what is going on by testing the fluid for prostatic markers to tell if it is from the reproductive tract or elsewhere and an ultrasound to look at what is going where. these are cheap and risk free tests.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
