What Causes Excessive Phlegm After Having Food?

I am not sick, but have persistent phlegm most of the day but especially after eating. I had the flu two months ago but have recovered. This seemed to get more persistent since, but otherwise, I feel fine. I am not on any medications and regularly exercise on still bike for 30 minutes each day. I weigh 170, 5 9 and eat well. This has me baffled. Thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Excessive phlegm after eating can be due to gastroesophageal reflux. Which causes irritation of upper respiratory passage excessive mucus secretion and cough. You should try to have multiple small servings at small intervals. Avoid spicy, oily foods. Avoid liquids two hours before sleeping. Can add Pantoprazole tablet over the counter before food? If no relief, consult a chest physician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
