What Causes Excessive Pus Discharge From Incision Site Post TLH?

I had a tlh on march 24th, on Friday I noticed pus coming from one of the incision sites , on Monday I went to my gp and was prescribed flucloxicillin 500mg 4 x daily , there is now more pus coming out of my incision site , which I thought is a good sign , but just wanted to check if this is normal for it to get worse before it gets better . Thank you

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain pus is a sign of infection and pus discharge from any part of the body especially the incision sites of the surgical areas is not at all a good sign and is a sign of deep seated infection..

In case if the pus discharge has increased more after taking antibiotics then it has to be taken care of and you should immediately consult your treating surgeon and get evaluated..

-He can do a proper evaluation and if needed he can drain of the pus and irrigate the area with antiseptic solution and apply antibiotic dressing over it for faster healing..
-You can be given oral antibiotics along with injectable antibiotics for faster resolution of infection and avoiding further spread that can lead to Septicemia..
-You should also keep the area clean and dry and avoid moisture accumulation in the area..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
