What Causes Excessive Saliva, Stomach Ulcers And Swollen Esophagus?
I produce excess saliva and have difficulty swallowing it since 2 months. I also suffer from swallowing problems and have been on a liquid-based diet since 1 month until recently when I started eating soft foods. I underwent upper GI endoscopy and was diagnosed with stomach ulcers and a swollen esophagus, with my doctor giving medication which have lasted for a week now (Flagyl, Rabeprazole, Clarithromycin and antacids). Although I don't suffer from heartburn, what else could my condition be?(except for GERD) Also, my swallowing of saliva hasn't improved greatly.
The symptoms you mention in query are clearly indicating a condition known as ' SILENT REFLUX ' , This is different from GERD in some aspect that it doesn't produce symptoms like heart burn . In this condition the acidic content of stomach comes upto nasopharynx due to dysfunction of esophageal sphincter .

What Causes Excessive Saliva, Stomach Ulcers And Swollen Esophagus?
Hi Dear, Understanding your concern. The symptoms you mention in query are clearly indicating a condition known as SILENT REFLUX , This is different from GERD in some aspect that it doesn t produce symptoms like heart burn . In this condition the acidic content of stomach comes upto nasopharynx due to dysfunction of esophageal sphincter . This condition is also known as Laryngopharyngeal Reflux . Only medicines will not going to help in this case there is a need of life style change also . So i would suggest you o :- - Avoid eating heavy like fatty and spicy food specially before going to bed . - Eat frequent and small meals . - Take light walk after every meal . - Avoid alcohol and other aerated drinks . Continue medicines given by your doctor . Get Well Soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
