What Causes Excessive Sleepiness While On Prolixin, Lamictal And Cogentin?
I am on Prolixin injection given every 2 weeks, 25 mg. I am also on Cogentin. Lamictal 100 mg at night. I feel sluggish all the time, sleep alot slow moving, no drive or ambition.... no alleviation? Do you have any idea which med of the above could be causing this.
Hello and Welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It's due to drug-drug interaction. Taking Prolixin together with Lamictal may increase side effects such as dizziness, excessive drowsiness, confusion, difficulty concentrating, impaired thinking, and motor coordination. Avoid activities requiring mental alertness such as driving, swimming or operating hazardous machinery, if any. You should consult your doctor for an alternate effective drugs that do not interact to produce excessive sedation or drowsiness.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
