What Causes Excessive Sleepiness While On Vyvanse?
Hi. Ive been on vyvance now( prescribed) for going on 2yrs. I started at 30,am now at 60. I take holidays or cpl days off a month to keep from building a tolerance. Problem im having is its wearing off in about 7hrs then become ridiculously sleepy. I have read that people take a booster during the day rather than up it to 70. She has uped each time and all it does is work for a cpl weeks, then im back where i started. My dr wont break it in half( 2x 30 as opposed to 1x60). I dont know what to do. It has worked wonders and ive already had a 15yr nightmare of them refusing to look at adhd and keep prescribing antidepressants, seraquel, trazedone etc... I finally got them to try it,my symptoms went away almost imed. What boosters are safe with vyvance or whats best way to proceed
In my opinion, there is no reason to be worried and usually, this is just temporary and self-limiting. Excessive daytime sleepiness is common issues and should be considered in this case.
Excessive daytime sleepiness may be caused by conditions such as sleep deprivation, metabolic disturbances, sleep apnoea, medications, neurological disorders such as seizures and psychiatric disorders such as depression.
If emotional causes are ruled out then some tests can be done to confirm the diagnosis.
In my opinion, polysomnography ( sleep study ), is one of the necessary examinations in order to achieve a correct diagnosis. Please discuss with primary care Doctor about these issues.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
