What Causes Excessive Sweating After Physical Exertion?

I perspire heavily with minimal exercise. I also have a problem falling a sleep I have been on medication for hypertension since I was 30. I m 70. I ve been on a antidepressant for about a year. I was also diagnosed with fibromyalgia 20 years ago.. Could my medications cause my problems? Should I be concerned about anything else? I can t get in to see my doctor for my yearly checkup until the end of August.

Hello,

Heavy perspiration after minimal exercise is unlikely to be due to hypertension. The extent of perspiration varies from person to person and depends on distribution of sweat glands in various parts of body. Anti-depressants are also unlikely to cause heavy sweating.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
