Hello
I have read your statements and i understand you are concerned about
night sweats. It would have been more easy for me if you would have stated other associating symptoms too
There are variety of diseases that causes night sweats, ranging from infection to
hormonal abnormalities to malignancies.
Here i would narrate all these in such a way that u can differentiate one from another to reach some differential diagnosis
1>
Menopause in Women: If u are female and you are no more menstruating, its common symptom, all you have to do to consult a gynecologist
2> Bacterial Infection: Among this group, TB is top of the list. along with night sweats, patients is having fever with goes on and off and also patients loses weight, Do ''Sputum AFB'' Test to exclude TB
3> Hormonal Abnormalities: Top of the list among this group is
Hyperthyroidism. ie increased thyroid hormone. along with night sweating, the patients feels irratable, they lose weight, they eat too much, and they
loose motion most of the time. TO exclude this diease, do "TFTs" test ie Thyroid Function Test
4>Malignancies: In this group of disorders,
Lymphoma is the most common cause of night sweats. If your is more than 50 and you are having frequent infection of chest, throat etc , go to a medical lab and do ''Special Smear'' test to know you are having a normal blood cells picture
5> Medications: Make sure u are not taking certain medications that causes night sweats such as anti depressents,
acetaminophen and even aspirin
6> Low sugar level: Low sugar level causes night sweats too. If you are diabetic and taking hypoglycemic pills, check your ''Fasting Blood Sugar'' . If you are not diabetic, stil check fasting blood sugar to make sure its in normal range
7> Idiopathic: Idiopathic condition causing night sweats ie idiopathic hyperhydrosis can be a rare cause. The disease is diagnosed when all the above physical causes are excluded. The treatments is symptomatic and you have to take Tab propanthalilne bromide 15 mg 3 times a day 1 hour before meal
