Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband has excessive sweating during the night and early morning. He is 80 and this has been going on almost a year! What could be the cause? He has been in a wheelchair since 2010 due to loss of a leg from a compound fracture that had 3 infections
Night sweats can be caused by a number of different problems and should be looked into.
This could be an occult infection, an autoimmune problem, an autonomic nervous system problem, endocrine (such as thyroid issues), or malignancy.
So as you can see, there are so many possible causes that I can't say without being able to evaluate him. So, it's time for him to go in to see his doctor to evaluate these night sweats.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Bonnie Berger-Durnbaugh, General & Family Physician
