General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Excessive swelling in the legs and feet may be due to several causes from heart problems, liver diseases (if they complicate with cirrhosis), kidney function decline, etc.

Asthma, with time, may cause pressure on the right side of the heart and cause pressures to build up backward and cause leg swelling.
You will need to have a heart ultrasound, liver function tests, urea, creatinine, electrolytes in the blood, etc.

I hope this answers your query.
I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj
