What Causes Excessive Talking When Suffering From Depression?

Hello doctor,

My Sister is suffering from severe depression from last 6 months. She is taking medication and treatment from a Psychiatrist. But from last few days she is talking continuously in sleep and talking irrelevantly most of the time. She is also shivering as if she has high fever but when we checked the temperature it is normal. She is murmuring and not clear while speaking. Kindly advice if we have to consult Psychiatrist or Neurologist. Also please let us know if the disease is curable or not.

Thanks in Advance,
Lakshmi

Dear
Welcome to HCM
We understand your concerns

I went through your details. I suggest you not to worry much. Depression is considered mild to moderately psychoses. Dissociative disorder. Means the victim shall be in their own world or hallucination / illusion. Talking incessantly and sleeping is also part of depression. In your sister's case, you need to consult a psychiatrist as early as possible. Before going to a psychiatrist, try to determine how the problem started. Medicines are necessary at this stage and the problem should be cured if treated well.

I suggest to undergo psychotherapy along with medicines. Please post a direct question to me in this website. Make sure that you include every minute details possible. I shall prescribe some psychotherapy techniques which should help you cure your condition.

Hope this answers your query. Available for further clarifications.
Good luck.
