Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Excessive Thirst And Excessive Urination At Night?
My husband, age 64 has been experiencing excessive urination at night approximately over 2 quarts of urine passed. Within the past two month, he has lost over 10 pounds without trying although he walks several miles a few days a week. He is also often thirsty.
Hi. I've gone through your query and I can understand your anxiety.
With your husband's history it shows he is suffering from " Diabetes mellitus". His age, increased urination, increased thirst, weight loss all are suggestive of the same.
I advice you to do - FBS/PPBS to know the levels of blood sugar - Urine sugar & ketone bodies - Diet restriction of sugar products - Exercise - brisk walk (2-3miles/d) Baesd on the blood sugar level either injections or oral hypoglycemic agents can be used.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care.
Regards, Dr. Yogapriya V, General and family physician.
