What Causes Excessive Thirst And Frequent Urination?

I have been feeling thirsty most of the time despite having light colored or clear urine and having to make frequent trips to the bathroom (especially at night). I haven t been drinking as much now so that i won t have to get up at night as often. However, i have still been thirsty while having light urine. Should i be drinking more or less. Do i need more electrolytes to maintain hydration. Also, my mouth has been getting really dry alot, which makes it hard to chew swallow food. is this related?

Hi,

Well, all the symptoms that you are experiencing are pointing towards High Blood Sugar Levels or Diabetes.

The symptoms typical to high blood sugar levels are excessive thirst [Polydypsia], excessive urination [Polyuria] and dry mouth or Xerostomia.

So the first thing that you need to do is to consult a Physician and get fasting, post meal and HbA1c levels checked.

Along with it, you should also once do your Kidney function tests and urinalysis was done.

Accordingly, the treatment can be planned, but the treatment can be done once after the investigations are done.
