What Causes Excessive Thirst And Pain In The Right Heel?

I have been very thirsty lately, and over the past, month or two all of a sudden my right heel (toward the back and outside) has been sore. I had Lyme disease back in August, but have been fine since after antibiotics. I am a genrally health 57 yo woman, I exercise regularly, am not overweight and eat mostly a vegan diet.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Being excessive thirsty is due to 2 main causes in your case:

- possible diabetes should check your fasting blood sugar, HBA1C level, and 2 hours after eating
- candida thrush of GI tract including your mouth. Get oral swab testing and culture to rule this out.

Sometimes, hyperacidity of the stomach is also responsible for getting thirsty after antibiotic use. Take good care of your oral hygiene; take probiotics to stabilize GI flora.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
