What Causes Excessive Thirst While On Cephalexin And Fluconazole?

i took a medicine for a uti called cephalexin and a pill for a yeast infection called fluconazole (I think that s how its spelled) I finished my medication yesterday but I have been very thirsty and keep going to the bathroom. I have been told that it is just a side effect of my meds but I have also been told that since I was done with them I shouldn t be feeling any of the side effects. I got checked last night for diabetes and didn t have it. I am going to a urologist next week about my bladder. do you know what could be causing my thirst and what I can do about it until I see my doctor?

Hi,

Excessive thirst is due to polyuria (keep going to bathroom). Your UTI might not have been resolved fully. The commonest cause of increased urinary frequency is urinary tract infection.

Go for repeat urinalysis. Pus cells should be below 5/hpf. Neither Cephalexin nor Fluconazole causes excessive thirst.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
