Hello,
You have a history of lupus. Excessive thirst is a symptom of lupus and Sjogren's disease.
Dry mouth, dry eyes cause discomfort. It may also effect the different organs like kidneys, liver, pancreas, lungs, stomach and brain, etc. Avoid intake of spicy and salty food on a daily basis to reduce thirst. Also, sweating, exhaustion, lack of sleep or even an extensive work out session can lead to the never-ending feeling of
dehydration.
Take plenty of water and ORS. Stay well hydrated. To avoid
constipation cut on red meat and dairy products like cheese, etc. Take more veggies and fruits / berries. Take laxatives at bed time. Avoid sedentary lifestyle, do regular stretch exercises and walking. If diabetic, keep your blood glucose levels under control. Take biotin supplements.
Since you retain water and have lupus, you may have
lupus nephritis. You are suggested to get clinically examined and get kidney function tests,
Urinalysis, biopsy and blood tests done. Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
