What Causes Excessive Urination While Suffering From Crohn S Disease?
My mom who is 84 has crohns disease, she is urinating huge amounts of urine. She also has lung cancer, but is doling okay. She has lost 11 pounds since August. She is drinking something twice a day for crohns , she has had a large amount of fluid withdrawn from her knee.
The excessive urination seems unlikely to be related to Crohn's disease. Howe'ver it may be related to her lung cancer which may cause a condition called SIADH (syndrome of inappropriate ADH secretion) in which abnormal hormones are produced in the body which may cause a large amount of urine that is generally more than 4 liters per day.
However, sometimes excessive urine may be caused by an infection in urine or high sugar, high calcium. But that's generally not more than 3 liter.
So first her urine should be checked and if negative for infection then he should be tested for SIADH that would be done in the hospital only.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman, General & Family Physician
