What Causes Excessive Vaginal Bleeding After Taking Norethisterone?
Hi I ve been taking norethisterone for 7 days now to stop me bleeding as I ve been bleeding for 4 months now I was givin these to stop bleeding so I could get an examination I ve had no bleeding for 7 days but just went to toilet and started bleeding again breed red blood with what looks like clots of blood in is this normal while taking these tablets just I thought they where meant to stop my period
Yes, these medications can be used to stop bleeding. If you are still bleeding, the dose (if not at the maximum dose) or the time you use the medication, may need to be adjusted.
Though the bleeding would limit physical examination, you can still have imaging of the genital tract with an ultrasound or CT scan. One of these imaging techniques would be able to determine if there is a structural cause.
In addition, there are blood tests that can be done as well for reproductive hormones.
I hope this helps
