My son s girlfriend moved from the Caribbean a month ago to Canada. She had her period for the month of November with the bleeding more excessive than usual. The period finished, for one week all was clean, but then she noticed that blood is still dripping. Today my son and the girl went to a walking clinic, doctor did a test to see if she is pregnant and she isn t( they didn t have sex yet),doctor gave her referral to do a blood test and pelvic ultrasound and said that it can be hormonal or fibroid and I m worrying as she is very young( 26 years old) if fibroid has to be removed what about uterus and ovaries, as she has to have kids, also I m scared when it has to do with the bleeding my thoughts are associated with the cancer? Can you please share your thoughts of what could be the cause of the blood dripping in this case? Thanks a million in advance!!!!
Abnormal vaginal bleeding in this age group is more commonly due to benign causes mostly hormonal, which can be treated with oral pills. Fibroids, though a possibility are not very common in this age group. Not all fibroids will need surgical treatment. Many of them can be left without treatment and needs only follow up. But having said that to be sure of what's happening exactly, it is better if you can go ahead with tests and scan advised by your doctor.
