What Causes Excessive Vaginal Discharge While Urinating During Pregnancy?
Hi Dr.. My GirlFriend is currently 4months pregnant. She had Sharp pain on the left side of her belly, and now also experiencing mucus like coming out as she urinates. This would be my first baby, i have no idea what this means. Could this be some sort of STI/STD or any medical issue? Please advise
I have gone through the medical history of your girlfriend and understood your concern.
Having sharp pain on the left side of her belly could be due to: - uterine contractions - possible urinary tract infection - colitis/gas especially if she is also having problems with constipation
I advise to let her rest more, give plenty of fluids especially water, avoid gas forming foods like beans, etc.
If the pain won't subside in a couple of hours or will get intense, send her to ER for immediate evaluation and treatment.
Make an appointment with her OG specialist and run further tests to determine the right diagnosis: - urine analysis - vaginal swab testing - abdominal/gynecological ultrasound
Spasmex or paracetamol can be taken to reduce the pain.
Wish fast recovery. Dr.Albana
