Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
So I ve been experiencing issues with my vaginal discharge. I believe that it is BV because my symptoms match but I am not sure if I should see a doctor. It is barely noticeable anymore. I m supposed to be starting my period today but I m not sure if I got it. I m getting a mucusy discharge with blood in it but I can t tell if that s my period and if I should be concerned about it. Im 16, I am taking birth control, and I have had sex recently but I do not suspect pregnancy. Help would be appreciated! Thank you!

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
If you took oral contraceptive regularly at same time of day.. you have least chance of conception. Oral contraceptives cause reduction in menstrual bleeding. Continue your pills as advised but if you are suspicious, get urine pregnancy test done after 8 days.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
