What Causes Excessive Weight Loss And Diarrhea While On Metformin?

MY MOTHER IS ELDERLY and she takes 1,000 MG OF METFORMIN TWICE A DAY. I noticed that she has lost a lot of weight in one year. She is always weak, tired falls a lot, cold, cranky has diarrhea all the time and is confused should her amount be decreased?

It generally isn't given to the elderly at all. And it certainly isn't given at the highest dose. Blood testing would be required to see if the drug were seriously dangerous and how to adjust it if someone were to take it. because fatalities that occur with metformin have generally been in elderly people with kidney disease, it generally isn't given in the elderly.
