What Causes Excessive Weight Loss And Stomach Ulcers While On Gabapentin?

i need to know i a dosage of gabapentin over the max of 3600 per day causes weight loss and stomach ulcers. I went to a pain mgmt doc and was supposed to be receiving 2400 mg per day and he cganged it without consulting me. i hav lost 60 lbs in 10 months and n have 13 ulcers in my stomach. Wondering if this change in my meds around the same time could be the cause?

Hi,

Gabapentin may have many side effects. However, weight loss of this much and many ulcers could not be explained with this drug.

Rather it may cause weight gain. However, such significant weight loss and ulcers always need proper work up. It's very unlikely to be caused by Gabapentin.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
