What Causes Excessive Weight Loss While Suffering From Crohn S Disease?

My daughter who is 31 yo has all the symptoms of crohns disease but has been through upper and lower gi, blood test, stool testing, and they have not see crohns. She has a video capsule scheduled for next month. She is 5 2 and has lost 35 lbs since last spring when symptoms appeared. Could these symptoms indicate something else? What else could it be? no one in family has ever had crohns and she was an otherwise healthy female. My email is YYYY@YYYY

Hi,

Inflammatory bowel disease can cause weight loss due to poor digestion and absorption of nutrients and frequent bowel movements.

If you have any problem in the gut it can cause weight loss. However, other issues like growth in any part of GIT can also cause it. You are advised to report the emergency room for proper evaluation and accordingly, you can be treated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
