What Causes Excruciating Headaches Despite Taking Advil?

I experienced a headache yesterday that is one i have never experienced before. When i woke up this morning it was still there. It feels like a brain freeze but i have not eaten or drank anything cold. It is throbbing and aching and i have taking an Advil and that has not helped. Any Advice?

It is possible that the headache may be due to migraine though you may not have a previous migraine history.
This is the most common cause of prolonged headache.

The other cause of the ' worse headache ever had' is subarachnoid hemorrhage. This refers to a type of bleed that can occur in the brain.
If there is no previous history of migraines or severe headaches, it would be best to be assessed.
