What Causes Extreme Diarrhea After Taking Complera?

Hi I am HIV + I have been taking the drug Complera as my regimen. I have been on this one a day pill for over a year now. It seems now after taking my pill I have extreme diarrhea. This will last until I take something for it. I wonder what could be happening?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the Complera is combination of Emtricitabine, Rilpivirine and Tenofovir, used in various disorders of hepatitis as well as HIV immune deficiency states. The diarrhea is in concern with GI flora upset as loss of lacto bacillus from the gut. Primary relief with addition of lacto bacillus in form of probiotics and curative aspects require discussion of the side effects with the consultant and get necessary changes in further prescription either in terms of molecule or dosage or both.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
