What Causes Extreme Drowsiness While Using Atrovent Nasal Spray?

I have just started using Atrovent Nasal Spray and I believe it is making me very sleepy. I am suddenly very abnormally sleepy. I can barely keep my eyes open. Please tell me if this could be what it is. I just got like this when I started using the Atrovent. Thank you. Anita Mahaffey

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Short answer: Yes, it is possible

Long answer:
While it is not a common side effect, extreme lethargy is listed as one of the possible problems in the drug information listing. My advice is that if it keeps you from functioning as usual, let your doctor know and change the spray to see if the symptoms do indeed go away. There are other options on the market with the same function, and you should never have to put up with side effects of medication if it makes you feel worse.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have further questions.

Regards,
Dr. Teh
