What Causes Extreme Pain In Stomach And Back With History Of Having Herniated Disc?

I have a herniated disc at C3, had a lumbar fusion at L4/L5 and was told that I now have a tear at L5/S1 so I am in extreme amounts of pain every day. I found out about the tear after being involved in an accident March 5, 2015 and since then when I go to sleep on my back I wake up with excruciating pain in my stomach and back which makes it impossible to move/get out of bed for at least 20 minutes. Could this new pain be linked to the new found tear at L5/S1?

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

It is important consulting with a neurologist for a physical exam and performing a cervico-thoracic spine MRI in order to investigate on a possible new tear in the thoracic vertebral column discs. The pain in this region is not related to the lumbar vertebral column. You should discuss with your doctor on the above test.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
