What Causes Extreme Pain In The Right Foot Under The Ankle Area?

I have sharp pain on the outside of my right foot, under the ankle area. I recently saw a doctor who took xrays and did not find any stress fractures. My concern is the pain comes and goes and is made worse with running/exercise and last for at least two days when it comes on. I don t think its a soft tissue injury because it goes away after a couple of days (just in time for my next work out). what do you think might be causing it?

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
No need to worry for fracture or soft tissue injury as your x ray is normal.
Sometimes calcium and vitamin d 3 deficiency can cause similar kind of pain in weight bearing bones.
So get done calcium and vitamin d 3 levels and if Deficiency, you will need supplements.
Don't worry, you will be alright.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
