Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am worried about my sister, she has had extremely low hemoglobin, they tried to change her diet and give hr vitamins but it has not helped. Today they did and endoscopy, they did not find anything, just a hernia. The Dr told her he wants her to see a blood specialist. Do you have any thoughts of what might be wrong?
Hello, There are many causes of anemia (low hemoglobin). The simple causes are iron deficiency and other vitamin deficiencies which I am sure they have checked her for. Other problems can be from the bone marrow not making enough red blood cells or from the cells getting destroyed in the body after they are made. That is why it is a great idea for her to see a hematologist (blood specialist) to sort this out. Regards
