Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Eye Dilation Along With Mild Headaches?
my 22 year old daughter has been experiencing mild headaches for a couple weeks now. The pain is usually alleviated by Tylenol or Motrin. However twice this week, she has noticed that her left pupil becomes dilated while the right pupil remains normal. No blurring of vision and no eye pain. These episodes last a few hours and the pupil returns to normal on its own. Any ideas on cause?
As per my clinical experience, eye dilation of one side with mild headache may be in concern with possible alteration in intra occular pressure in some cases. However, a detailed ophthalmology evaluation is mandatory in this regard for the examination of retina, pupilary light reflex and any other obvious abnormality.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
