What Causes Eye Discomfort When Suffering From Respiratory Infection?

Over the course of the past two months, I have had a respiratory infection, sinus congestion, both bacterial and fungal ear infections (in the only ear I can hear from at all- totally deaf in other ear) and now feels like I may have some kind of problem with one eye. Prior to this I have been very healthy and I m beginning to wonder if there could be something more systemic going on. Although my symptoms have fluctuated in terms of severity, I haven t felt well in 2 months and haven t been symptom free at all during this time. I still have a cough that developed at the beginning of all this.

Hello,

Since you have a history of respiratory infections, sinus congestion, both bacterial & fungal ear infections; infections can spread in the eyes through the hands by touching.

Apply Genticyn eye drops, 2-3 drops in both eyes twice daily. Avoid touching the eyes with your fingers.

For cough, you are suggested to do warm saline gargle at least two times a day. Take Grilinctus Syrup for relieve.

You can take a course of amoxicillin if needed. You can get your deaf ear tested by Audiometry by an ENT, so that treatment can be done or hearing aid can be taken.

Get clinically examined by an ENT, get X-Ray PNS done, get treated for Sinus & ear infection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
