Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Facial Sensations, Fluid-like Feelling In The Ear And Tooth-sensitivity?
I have facial sensations, ears that feel like I have fluid on my ear, and tooth sensitivity on one side of my face. This has been the case for years. I recently went to an ENT and he put a tube in my ear which seemed to provide some relief for feeling of fluid on my ear. He diagnosed me with neuritis and neuralgia after seeing a floating facial nerve on a scan. I have an MRI scheduled for the base of my skull to ensure there are no other causes. THe conditions always get better when I am on a steroid pack like prednisone but always come back. Antibiotics don t really seem to do anything. Any thoughts on how to resolve this?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
The symptoms seem to be neurogenic in origin. There can be pressure at cervical spine/at the tooth/temporomandibular joint level (inflammation causing pressure on peripheral sensory nerves.
The investigations that are planned would find the exact cause followed by specific management (treatment of cause +physiotherapy+vitamin B12 supplement).
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
