What Causes Failure Of Sinus Surgery?

I just had sinus surgery (turbalint reduction), I thought it was a full sinus surgery. Even though I had the surgery in June, i began to have problems with coughing, breathing and congestion again. So I went back to my doctor, he looked in my nose and said, Gosh, it looks like i did not perform surgery. So, he referred me to an immunologist. All my test came back ok. I then fell back into the hands of another sinus ENT, more advanced. I asked for another CT scan, this was in Nov, he says I have no air flow, and I have fungai, should i have another surgery. What went wrong? He highly recommends that I do. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to HCM,

I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

Recurrence is common in fungal sinusitis or allergic polyp.

Turbinate reduction will only help in relieving nasal blockage ( not in congested sinuses).

Failue of surgery is common with recurrence. In case of allergy, to prevent polyp or fungal sinusitis, you need to have regular treatment and follow ups for life time.

Decision can be taken after ct scan findings, go ahead.

all the best, take care.
