What Causes Fainting Followed By Excessive Sweating?

My daughter s friend, 53, a man, appeared to have fainted/did faint at a party. His eyes crossed and he was briefly unconscious. He takes blood pressure pills and had a glass or two of wine. He was unconscious briefly. He was sweating. I think he didn t have pain. Was it a heart attack? An ekg done by ambulance people was o.k.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Based on the description, it appears that your daughter's friend could had gone in for transient hypoglycaemia. This could have happened during the course of alcohol consumption, as alcohol is known to provide empty calories. Hence, he could have been unconscious for sometime and gradually recovered back.
So it is not due to any cardiac problem such as angina or heart attack, as EKG states to be normal.
He needs to be careful next time onwards to keep his glycemic status proper while consuming alcohol.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
