Hi, welcome to our site. I am Dr Saumya Mittal, MD.
Read your query. That is a very significant question and i appreciate your problem. I will try my best to answer your query
You have answered the query in your own query my friend.
First, it is definitely a matter of concern. Under no circumstances is it normal to have black outs. Its a matter of concern, and I would admit any patient I was seeing directly for further investigations and management.
Now, there are several possibilities why this may happen-
1, you dont eat right- you might have anemia- or low
hemoglobin. This makes you weak because the
oxygen carrying capacity of the body is reduced. You need to test a CBC with blood indices. If found to be positive, you will need to take iron and vitamin B supplementation. Correction of dietary habits is important of course.
2.There may be hypovolemia- low blood volume. This may be because of low water intake. The low blood volume means that when your body gets sudden stresses like standing from sitting position, the heart has to pump harder to keep the circulation ok. When it falls below that level where the heart cannot compensate further, the blackouts may happen. you just need to drink ample amount of water to cure this cause.
3. neurological and cardiological conditions need to be ruled out. Doing a
MRI Brain, and an
echocardiography would be a good idea of course. The treatment will be according to disease detected, if any.
I hope this helps you. Inform the reports mentioned above/if any other so I can be of help further.
