What Causes Fainting While Suffering From Dysautonomia?

Hello, I have dysautonomia. Lately though, I ve been passing out lying down. I m on blood pressure meds to raise my bp so my blood pressure is good but my heart rate is not. I have sinus bradycardia and every time it hits 40s, I pass out but my bp will be normal at 99/65. I start feeling super ill in the 50s though. Is it possible to pass out with sinus bradycardia but normal blood pressure readings? I am not am athlete. I m chronically sick. I also randomly get HR spikes from POTS. Highest 288bpm.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Yes it's possible to have sinus bradycardia with a normal blood pressure reading (even though yours is still on the lower side). Blood pressure is maintained by two things - heart pumping as well as the construction of your vessels. Depending on your medications im assuming its being able to maintain your blood pressure while simultaneously still having bradycardia through this method. Please consult with a cardiologist regarding this if you frequently faint due to a low heart rate as well as the spikes you are getting as such a heart rate could lead to another arrhythmia. Alternatives such as a pacemaker or various medications can increase it. I also recommend ECGs (which I am sure you have already taken), should be checked at regular intervals to ensure no other arrhythmia is present as well as your condition is not worsening. To prevent any fainting spells, I recommend regular hydration (as well as alcohol abstinence) as something you can personally do at home.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ankit Gopinath
