What Causes False Positive Result For Pregnancy While On BC Pills?

I ve been on birth control for two months I was spotting during this time then started my period been on it for 2 weeks now back to spotting went to my doctor to start the depo shot but pregnancy test came back positive whats the chances that its a faulse positive test

Hi,

I understand your concern.

The irregular periods are due to hormonal changes. If pregnancy test resulted positive, then, you are pregnant. Rarely, sometimes, some women might be pregnant although on BC pills especially if BC pills are not taken in time.

Once again, if tested positive, less chance to be a false positive test. An ultrasound and blood HCG test would confirm pregnancy.
