What Causes Fast Heart Rates After Changing The Dosage Of Thyroxine?
I have had my Thyroxin medication (Eutroxsig) increased recently from 75mmg to 100mg, since then I have noticed my heart rate and blood pressure changing up and down. My resent Blood pressure reading was 140/111 Heart rate 89 I am feely a bit tight and fluttery in the chest What do you suggest
Dose reduction of thyroxine. Based on the history you seem to have developed side effects apparently caused by slightly larger doses of thyroxine. The dose of thyroxine needs to be reduced by your doctor to keep the normal level of TSH in the range of 0.4 to 4.0 mIU/L. Further, your blood pressure needs to be rechecked again after reducing thyroxine dose.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
