What Causes Fast Heartbeat, Giddiness And Drowsiness While Drinking Alcohol?
Hi, I was a chronic alcoholic earlier. Off late I am unable to drink more then 60ml of hard drink. My body gets hot, my heart beat increases, I feel giddy and sleepy. My body refuses any more alchohol intake after the first drink. Can you help me with the reason?
1. A panic attack induced by alcohol as alcohol is a known panicogen. 2. Idiosyncratic reaction to alcohol. 3. Withdrawal reaction as your body was adapted to take heavy amounts but the amount has decreased now. 4. Some liver damage and inability to metabolise alcohol.
I think you should consider quitting alcohol asap. Consult a psychiatrist/addiction medicine specialist.
Drugs like librium (prescription drug) help to fight alcohol withdrawal symptoms.
Thanks.
