Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had 2 stents 3 days ago. I felt good with the exception of fatigue. Today I have chest discomfort. I took nitro and it eased up for awhile. I m afraid that every little thing I feel is another heart attack. I don t want to make a trip to ER unnecessarily. How do I know when to go? My discomfort isn t like what I felt with NStemi but kind of feels like indigestion. Not much of an appetite so not eating much. Am I being paranoid?
Hello, Thank you for the question at health care magic
I recommend that you go to the ER . Post stent placement chest discomfort can be due to several reasons like -Coronary spam : This is usually benign, occur in first few weeks post procedure .Symptoms resolve quickly with nitroglycerin. -Re stenosis : either due to blood clot or tissue growth, takes few weeks to months to occur -A new coronary occlusion -It can also be gastric discomfort/indigestion
You need to be evaluated for what is causing this pain.Your also need ECG, repeat angiogram to look for the cause of chest discomfort
Hope I was able to answer your question Regards, Dr.Lekshmi
