Hello,

I understand your concern, but really, there is no cause for concern. Lack of energy and excessive sleep is normal in the first trimester due to the fact that your body is working hard to build the placenta, which will be your babies support system and the vital connection to your body for the rest of the pregnancy. Besides, your body's metabolism has increased dramatically, but your blood pressure and blood sugar levels have gone down, hence the low energy. This is all normal.
Come the second trimester, all the fatigue and sleepiness is gone, giving way to renewed energy and vitality. During this time, the organs of the baby are developing, thus the nutrient requirements are increased. This is the time of your pregnancy you should try and enjoy and take advantage of the most, before the return of tiredness by the third trimester, when you will get heavier and the baby will start positioning itself for birth.
During this time, and throughout the pregnancy, it is very important to eat right and whenever you feel like it. The quality of the food is much more important than the quantity. Eating a lot of fruit, vegetables and protein is a great gift from you to the baby. Pay attention to your body and do as it dictates you to. Listen to your cravings and satisfy them the best you can and stay away from processed food and any kind of food containing chemicals and toxins. Keeping your body hydrated is also very important.

Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy.
