Hi my name is Alma and I have taken the thyroid blood test and it came back a little of but my doctor has not said something about medication she just whants to keep an eye on it but i feel really tired to the point that its hard to get trough the day and I can t lose wheight and I have tried everything. I also sometimes feel depressed and I was just diagnosed with chronic migraines. What do you recomand me to do? I have taken the test only twice and both have returned of.
Hello, I can understand your concern. Hypothyroidism is a common cause of depression and weight gain. You didn't mention the values of the thyroid hormones, anyway if TSH is even slightly above the normal ranges and the patient does have symptoms of hypothyroidism it is recommend to start the treatment with thyroid hormone. May be your problems are not related to the thyroid gland, but once you find out to have a raised TSH you need to start the treatment.
