What Causes Fatigue And Low Body Temperature While On Amoxicillin?

My 8 yo daughter has pneumonia. She s been on amoxicillin since Monday night. (She first got sick about two weeks ago with fever and cough.) Fever was gone the day after starting amoxicillin. This eve she got very tired and her temperature has dropped. First to 96.4. Now around 95-95.5. Is the combination of fatigue and temperature drop ok?

Hi,

You need to understand that your daughter is 8 years old and is therefore a pediatric case who needs a lower dose of Amoxicillin. Do note how much of a dose you are giving her. Next, she was cured of the fever because Amoxicillin killed the germs that caused it, however, this drug also kills "good" germs.

Bacteria in the intestine that aid digestion. Note that this is probably the reason of her tiredness and drop of temperature. The antidote is Lactobacillus tablets. Please do give these to her and things will be fine. If she is on an adult dose of the Amoxicillin, do lower the dose with a weight measurement and with the advice of a pediatrician.
