What Causes Fatigue And Low Thyroid Since Gallbladder Removal?
I had my gall bladder removed 12 days ago. Day 3 thru 5 I started feeling better every day. Then since, I have had severe fatigue. I have low thryroid and am on medication. I am eating very healthy and not large meals. I have walked a little to gain my strength and gotten out a little also. I had hoped to go back to work on day 11 and my surgeon said it hadn't even been two weeks and I could go back on Monday. I am female and just turned 50. Not overweight. I am at a loss to this fatigue. Should I see my family doctor and have my thyroid and and check for anemia? Thanks!
hello there, thank you for posting on healthcare magic. The cause of your fatigue is most likely hypothyroidism.Even though you are on medication as you say, you need to get your thyroid hormone levels checked.Based on the results, you may have to get your thyroxine dosage readjusted. You can also get your bloodwork done to check for anaemia as you just had a surgery done. If your thyroid levels are normal, it would be advisable to get serum cortisol levels and serum electrolytes level checked as well to rule out adrenal insufficiency. Hopefully you will feel better soon. Thank you for visiting healthcare magic.
