What Causes Fatigue And Migraine Issues Inspite Of Having Synthroid For Hypothyroidism?
After a Long struggle with what seemed like a myriad of random symptoms, I was recently diagnosed with Subclinical Hypothyroidism. My thyroid gland is enlarged & abnormal on ultrasound. I was put on Synthroid. It seems like my issues are not changing & some are getting worse. I am extremely fatigued, forgetful to the point of forgetting my own birthdate, also having migraines (not new) , recently developed facial twitches & ringing ears... Should I just hang in there like my doctor says & keep waiting this out or possibly go see a neurologist about the migraines & forgetfulness? I am Tired of feeling Crazy!! :(
Hello, I read your concerns carefully. In most of the cases sublcinical hypothyroidism is asymptomatic. Anyway after starting treatment with synthroid it takes 4 weeks to see the improvement. So to exclude totally the thyroid as a cause of your symptoms i would suggest to check the TSH level after 4 weeks of treatment and if it within the normal ranges and the migraine and other symptoms persist you have to see a neurologist. Hope i have been helpful to answer your queries. In case of further questions do not hesitate to ask. Kind regards, Dr.Mirjeta
