What Causes Fatigue And Shortness Of Breath After Heat Exhaustion?
My husband (58), was doing yard work today in Texas 95 degrees. He experienced a lot of fatigue, and shortness of breath. Having to stop often to catch his breath. He did not rebound as he has in the past. And could only work 5 minutes, before he needed to rest again. After an hour and a half of work, came in and took his blood pressure. It was 90/55. With a heart rate of 99.
Working in yards in a hot atmosphere can cause exhaustion but he developed hypotension in the form of blood pressure of 90/55 and pulse rate of 99. This is indicative of dehydration or can be due to heart-related problem hence needs to be taken to ER for proper clinical evaluation, examination and proper management. Till then you can give him strict rest. Electrolyte solution. Plenty of oral fluids. Best way to go to ER asap.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
